In short, a MP3 file is simply just a compressed music file, but unlike formats like .WAV and .MIDI the file is neither LARGE (WAV) or horrid sounding (MIDI). The MP3 algorythm for the MP3 compression allows superb CD-Quality sound in a compact file. To put it in to comparison, on a standard CD you can get about 70 megabytes of regular audio (original .wav to cd audio), where as you can fit over 10 hours of MP3 music on a SINGLE CD! As you can imagine and probably know, the technology of MP3 has taken the world by storm, which is why this website is here!
